Review of last minutes meeting
|
- The October Minutes were reviewed and accepted. Kelly Liman and Kim Howard added regrets to the last meeting?s minutes.
|
|
Correspondence
|
- Ashley discussed that a Loyalist student has contacted us looking for volunteer experience. Considering the relative infrequency of the meetings, perhaps individual agencies would be a better choice rather than QCCAV. If any agency is interested in more information, contact Ashley via e-mail coordinator@qccav.ca

- The Committee discussed some numbers on the budget sheet and Teresa clarified any concerns with the movement of the figures. The committee wants to discuss the plans for spending at the next meeting.

SUB COMMITTEE REPORT
? EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMITTEE
Kim Charlebois promoted the Walk with Me: Human trafficking workshop on November 25th. It is being held at the Greek Hall from 10AM-2 PM. Registration and networking from 9AM-10AM. Lunch will be provided as well, and there will be a question and answer period after lunch. Right now registration is smaller than anticipated. It was suggested that people may be leaving the area for Christmas Shopping (Black Friday). The Committee discussed whether the cost could be limiting otherwise interested applicants. There was a discussion that subsidization may be possible, but the amount of time left until the event transpires is low.

The meeting today is unfortunately being held on the same day as the Three Oaks AGM. Many people have offered regrets because they are attending that event instead. Kim Howard asked that an e-mail be sent out a few days before the QCCAV meetings as a reminder. Ashley will put this into play starting with the December meeting.

Kim discussed the recent claims by some men in Ontario that Sexual Assault Centre services aren?t doing enough for male survivors of sexual violence. She has been trying to contact CBC to be able to give an alternative side of the story, as male survivors have been assisted by current efforts by sexual assault centres. She is asking QCCAV members to keep their ears open and to be ready to respond, perhaps publicly, on these issues.

Kim Howard went to a Conference in Michigan entitled "When She hits Him?. This event was of interest to the PARS program and hopefully will assist then in implementing female offender program guidelines.

Cheryl Clarke mentioned that Supervised access is having an open house on Nov 15. It is being put on jointly with the Family Law Association. Some judges and Lawyers in the area are likely to attend.
