Review of last minutes meeting

Minutes were reviewed with no changes. Note was made that there was a good turnout for the Dec meeting considering the Christmas season.

Correspondence

Mailbox key to be given to Diane. Future correspondence will be sent to committee members through Diane?s e mail mariesmom@hotmail.com . Please watch for this in your inbox. Hastings and Prince Edward Prevention of Elder Abuse Network PEAN list, QCCAV financial support submitted.

Financial Report

Financial report was distributed and reviewed. Heather explained and clarified how funds are dispersed. Each committee is asked to check your budget and utilize your funds that you have left by March 31. Submit any ideas that you have as to how to utilize funds for any committees to Susan Sweetman.

SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS

EXECUTIVE:

No meeting.

All committees need to review their budget and utilize the remaining funds by March 31st. Are we interested in changing the structure of the committee or are we happy with the structure now and how it is working? Terms of Reference needs to be reviewed. Everyone is in agreement that volunteers are needed to fill positions on the steering committee. Submit your names forward by March 5th.

Heather attended a meeting in Toronto and has been guaranteed an annualized funding for the QCCAV.

Susan attended a meeting in Ottawa with Tim from family services. He explained that they have had a paid co-ordinator for the last 10 years, and explained how their committee utilizes their funds.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

Meeting was 2 weeks ago and the topic was Domestic Violence this year.

Next meeting is in the fall and plans are underway.

PROJECT COMMITTEE:

QCCAV web site is being built and well underway. Susan meeting with contact from OSM on Friday. Date to be announced for training on the web site as soon a she meets with contact. Feedback and ideas for website would be appreciated. Should be set up in about 2 weeks time. Submit your name to Susan if you would like training on the web site.

CHILDRENS AND YOUTH COMMITTEE:

No report.

PROTOCOL COMMITTEE:

North Hasting training on March 13th from 10-2 in Bancroft. More information to follow.

Prince Edward no report.

Centre and South Hastings is meeting quarterly for update training. Signature agency is to be responsible for deciding needs. Next meeting is March 6th regarding team protocol and where the needs for funding are and where it would be most beneficial.

If you have any ideas for protocol or suggestions on how our money could be utilized please submit them to Susan Sweetman.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:

No meeting.

Next AGM Meeting is on Wednesday May 13th at 1:00 in Fairfield.

Domestic Violence

Court, Elder Abuse

Network

Correspondence handed out regarding a list of retirement residences offering a 72 hour stopover while issues are sorted out, and a checklist that has to be filled out if you are transporting an elder abuse victim. A copy of this will be sent out via e-mail by Heather. Video under production and should be finished in March.

New structure and new legislation was discussed. Funding needed for correction and helping victims of crimes.

Community Updates

There will be a speaker to discuss Personality Disorders and the Law on March 25th. Details will be e-mailed to you.

March 8th is international women?s day. There will be a speaker from the Congo. More information will be e-mailed to you.

Review of work plan

QCCAV website well underway and training dates to be set.
