Review of last minutes meetings

.

Karen discusses the May 27 workshop.  There were 101 people registered and 85 people who attended.  This was offered at no cost from the 2009-10 budget.  Karen notes there was a lot of positive feedback.  The keynote speakers were Francoise Mathieu on vicarious trauma.  Erin Lee Todd, the ED from Interval House in Lanark County presented on technology.

We now have our budget for 2010-11, with funding available.  Thus if there is anyone with ideas as to workshops/speakers, etc., please send along your thoughts.

Michele updates on the DVC meeting.  There are still issues rolling out the surety video.   Justice Deluzio also presented at the meeting with some updates on new legislation.  She also discussed how she wants to have some more communication between the DV court and the family court, to be able to integrate certain things, (i.e. release conditions which are similar to family court communication/access conditions).  Lisa and Shawn note the interest of the OPP and BPS to be involved in subsequent meetings.

Karen notes one case arose in between agencies that involved trying to use the protocol to resolve an issue.   It allowed the parties to air their differences, and the agencies came away with a better understanding of each other?s position, rather than leave an issue festering.

Lisa discusses a conference where the Waterloo and Hamilton models were presented.   The powerpoint presentations were reviewed and there was a lot of discussion regarding the Waterloo model.  It was agreed in principle that we try to get the Waterloo representatives here to have a presentation.  FIPPA and funding issues were noted to likely be the largest barriers and these should be discussed as part of the presentation.  Lisa notes that their agency will take the lead to attempt to organize a presentation, perhaps for January, 2011.  Lee & Karen (a.k.a. "we?) will look at contacting the heads of the various agencies to introduce the program and invite them to attend the presentation and be involved in the model delivery process.

Michele addresses the HART funding.  There is almost no money left in the Quinte and District Victim?s Fund.  As a result there won?t be a call for proposals in the fall.  There is therefore no money left for enhanced safety.  Lee will address with Justice Hunter and the federal Crown.

In agency updates, Todd notes that there will now be an assistant area manager.  They are tied up currently with Bill 168 stuff.
