Agenda Added to Agenda - World conference of Women Shelter - Pam - Family Court Support Program - Pam - Understanding and Responding to Male Sexual Victimization - Lisa Correspondence No Correspondence Sub-Committee Reports Executive – As per the introductions, Patricia Myhill has just recently started her position as Administrative Assistant. The email should be working now to send all correspondence through to her but if not sure feel free to continue sending things to Cheryl. Treasurers report: 2 cheques paid to Belinda for wages Building a Bigger Wave Conference- $200. for registration fee/per person $440.- meals/hotel Mileage is covered for conference – Teresa, Sarah, Kim C, and Pam are to be attending. Pam did mention that there could be the possibility that she will now not be able to attend. If that is the case she will let the committee know asap in order for someone else to go in her place.
Education and Training- Rahno said posters for "I Am Domestic Violence” have been distributed. -Presentations: Wambui Bahati on November 16th at the Banquet Centre at 11:00 AM- Cost is $55.00 per person which includes lunch. Also an evening presentation at the Empire Theatre from 7:00 – 9:00 no cost. Membership: Cheryl said the committee has not met since the last meeting. Now that Patricia is in place and some items have been received from Belinda a meeting will be set. Two new members, Rahno and Kelly have joined Cheryl and Kim Howard on the committee.
Protocol: Members for Central and South Hastings will be meeting on November 3rd at Hastings CAS at 9:00 am. This is a rescheduled meeting from the one cancelled in September. Protocol: North Hastings will be meeting on November 1st for DCVA Prince Edward County- Nothing to Report Discussion took place that at each of the protocol meetings some discussion should be started in regard to whether or not all the protocols should be joined as this topic will need to be discussed as a whole as the new protocols are due December 2012. Social Action Committee- Presently has no Chair. Committee members are Sandie Sidsworth and Ashlee Allen. A letter has been forwarded to MPP's regarding actions that are needed regarding social issues. We need to hold our Politicians accountable New Business Pam Havery from Three Oaks discussed the 2nd Annual World Conference of Women Shelters held in Washington D.C. Date- February 27 to March 1st, 2012 Pam asked QCCAV Executive for a commitment of money so a representative from the Steering Committee can attend the conference. Continued- Cost to register for Conference is $650.00 and a suggestion of agencies pooling monies together was suggested. Sandie Sidsworth offered $100.00 towards cost of gas, etc. Possible training money from MCSS Website on conference is: worldshelterconference.ca One person is to be chosen to represent QCCAV. Name to be drawn from a hat. Pam also received confirmation from the Ministry that Three Oaks will receive Government Funding to hire a part-time Family Court Support Worker on an 18 month contract. A Committee will be formed to design how the application process will play out. The chosen Family Court Support Worker will provide a training session for agencies dealing with Victims of Violence possibly in January 2012. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sandie Sidsworth and Pam Havery requested monies from the Federal government to help deal with the Homeless. Three Oaks will receive $280,000.00 to help build second stage housing for women and children of domestic violence. The Canadian Mental Health Association will receive $72,000.00 to help support homeless victims. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lisa provided the information regarding the CCAA and the Understanding and Responding to Male Sexual Victimization presentation that could be held for a day presentation on May 9th for the AGM. Lisa passed around the agenda that was used at the Kingston meeting that she attended and she also said they were available that day and would like to present in our community. Lisa also booked the Ramada and said they were also available. She mentioned that there would need to be some costs for the presentation and meal and that the costs would include a honouriarm and plane fare. Cheryl asked that Lisa discuss it further with the membership committee. Community Updates Three Oaks AGM will be held on November 9th from 12:00-2:00 in Madoc. (Straw Building –near the Skate Park) Three Oaks is hiring a Professional Fund Developer and will be advertised in newspapers and on the web. Some discussion took place around this being the same date as the next QCCAV meeting. Some suggestions took place that maybe our meeting could be changed or it could take place before or after the meeting in Madoc. If our meeting will change a notice will be sent out to all.
Trenton Military Resource Centre- Ashlee Allen discussed Family violence Awareness Week from October 17-21. To register for events please contact -613-955-8891 or aallen3@cogeco.net
Victim Services- Lisa Warriner discussed "Don't Be That Guy” Campaign. They are about to launch all 3 posters on October 24th at the Quinte Mall. (Kindness Court) All media/press have been invited. The Health Unit are active partners in this campaign and will donate $200.00 towards the $300.00 cost of printing the posters. These posters will be distributed to LCBO, Colleges, Bars etc. Lisa has put forward that QCCAV pay the remaining balance on the posters which is $133.34. The receipt has been submitted for approval. Motion to approve of request. All Agreed. A microphone and speakers are needed on October 24th for the launch of the campaign at the Kindness Court. If anyone knows anyone that could provide this please contact Teresa asap
Sexual Assault Centre- Kim Charlebois discussed Strategic Planning for SAC's Board, Staff and Volunteers at the end of October. 2 part-time people have been hired at SAC to help with the ever increasing waiting list. The waiting list was at 80 and has dripped down to 24. SAC had their AGM in September and had a great turnout. Mandy Bonisteel was the guest speaker for this event.
Quinte Health Care- Teresa Gauthier discussed ‘Raising Our Sons To Be Good Men” event. Speaker; MICHAEL KAUFMAN Dates: October 24th at the Empire Theatre from 7:00-900 for parents/teachers/everyone- no cost October 25th at the Greek Hall from 9:00 am to 3:00 for service providers- no cost. Please register asap as numbers are low
