Sub-committee Reports

Executive:
Administrative Assistant Position – Belinda has left the position and is returning to school. The call for applications went out and yes the initial date to respond by was incorrect but a revised email was sent out and three applications have been received. Steven and Cheryl are to complete the interviews next week. Discussion took place that this is the third person in one year so hopefully we can find someone that will stay in the position for a longer period of time.
Building a Wave forum – the forum takes place in
Toronto on Nov 7/8 and they will pay for two people to attend but we have also budgeted $2000.00 to cover the costs of this event. It was decided that four people will be sent, Sarah, Pam, Kim Charlebois and Teresa. From our budget will be $100, each for the registration fee = $400.00, accommodations and food for the two additional people will be $860.00 and mileage for all. Teresa will complete the paperwork and book the hotel rooms for everyone.
Treasurer’s Report – Not much activity to date other than pay for Belinda and money for the Education the Training committee. It was discussed that Teresa will connect with Barb at Three Oaks to see if an additional line can be placed on our printout to reflect the provincial funding monies and if not the $2000.00 will be reflected in the annual project line.

The event "I am domestic violence”, will be held on November 16, 2011, a save the date flyer went out and more details will follow. There will be two events an evening event at the Empire and a daytime event at the Banquet center most likely will start with lunch and then the afternoon. There was some discussion if the Banquet center is accessible and thought that it is. More details will follow.

|
Membership:
As Belinda has left the plans for the meeting today were not able to be completed. It was hoped that the website could be viewed and the membership packages would be available. This information will be discussed and followed up on. Coffee and some sort of treat will be offered at each of our meetings. Rahno also joined the committee. Protocol:
Centre and
South Hastings – The next meeting is scheduled for September 22, 2011, at CAS at 9:00 a.m. At the last meeting it was discussed that each person had homework to complete and they were review their top three websites and forward them to Belinda. Cheryl will check with Belinda to see if any emails were received. A PowerPoint presentation will also be taking place at the meeting to discuss next steps in a virtual website. Discussion took place as to whether this project is for
Hastings county and if so what about the other two protocols. Should other members of the other protocols also attend in order to see this presentation?
After discussion it was suggested that a day be planned with representatives from all three protocols to look at whether or not each region should continue with their own protocol or should they now be joined. The renewal point for the protocols is December 5, 2012, and this will be a huge project, but it is thought that the time to look at this is now before it comes time to renew with the signatories. At each protocol meeting 3 people should be asked to join a subcommittee to discuss the next steps and to join with the executive of the steering committee to look at this process.
North Hastings – The new crown is Adam Zegouras and the next meeting will most likely be set for October 24, 2011, or October 27, 2011.

Provincial Election Action – Step it up- Pam passed out a flyer and spoke about the plan. For more information and questions that you can ask to make violence against women and Ontario Election issue, see www.stepitupontario.ca It is hoped that after the election a plan will be in place to make politicians for accountable to what they promised. On September 29th there is a rally planned at Queen’s Park.
Male Sexual Victimization – Lisa spoke about the CCAA agency that the OPP work with to host a one day conference on "Understanding and Responding to Male Sexual Victimization”. Lisa spoke about seeing the conference in
Kingston and about how excellent the event was and asked about seeing if it can take place here. It was suggested that it could be part of the AGM on May 9, 2012, maybe with a breakfast meeting and then the day conference to follow. Lisa will follow up and see if they would be available on May 9th and also bring information about the CCAA, because many were not aware of the agency. The membership committee spoke about if this would be the case their budget could be directed there.
Movie day – To ensure the topic is not lost the education committee would like to have another movie day and the membership committee had previously said they would help out if needed through their budget. If the membership committee would now also be putting on a conference at the AGM it still would be a priority to help out with the movie night.
